The History of Yiwu
Founded in the Qin Dynasty 25, in 222 BC, Yiwu has a long history. It was first named Wushang County and was renamed Yiwu County in 624 AD. In 1988, the former Yiwu County grew to a city at the national level. In 1995, Yiwu ranked 47th among the 100 most powerful counties/cities in China in terms of overall economic strength and in the same year was listed as the only city in Zhejiang among the nation's comprehensive reform pilot counties/cities. In 2019, Yiwu's overall economy ranked 9th among all counties (cities) in China.
The Climate in Yiwu
Yiwu has a subtropical monsoon climate, temperate and humid, with four distinct seasons. The average annual temperature is around 17°C. July is the warmest month, when the average temperature is 29°C (84°F), the coldest month is January, reaching 4°C (39°F) on average. The average frost-free period in a year is 340 days. The annual precipitation is 1,100-1,600 mm (43-63 in).
Best Time to Visit
The best times to travel are spring and autumn, as each April and October the great China Yiwu International Commodity Fair is held, and the weather is neither hot nor cold.
Spring
Spring begins in late March and continues until late May, lasting about 60 days. Precipitation increases considerably compared to winter, sudden rains fall frequently. Bring an umbrella if you will be outside for a long time. Light jackets and jeans are the perfect clothing. which is good for shopping in the International Trade City. Summer
Summer is from late May to late September and lasts 130 days. It is sunny and hot most of the time, with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Typhoons attack the region mainly in this season. Except for typhoons, it is good for outdoor activities. The average temperature is 25°C (77°F).
Autumn
Autumn begins in late September and continues until late November. Cold and sunny days are common. The average temperature is 16°C (61°F). It is perfect for hiking and outdoor activities. The International Commodity Fair is from October 21 to 25.
Winter
Winter is long, beginning in late November and ending in late March. The weather is dry, cold and windy, with occasional rain and snow. The average temperature is 6°C (43°F). It is a good time to walk around the International Trade City. Wear warm clothing such as sweaters and coats if you need to do any outdoor activities.

Best Route from Hangzhou to Yiwu:
>> Take the express bus from Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport to Yiwu: about 1.5 hours, costs about USD10. (There is a bus every 0.5 to 1 hour from Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport to Yiwu, starting from 6:00 a.m., until 18:25)
